The process
Estate Sales usually last for 3 days. On the first day, typically Friday, all items are offered at full price as determined by our staff and based on market value for similar items. On Saturday, the prices of the items not yet sold become more negotiable (20 to 25% off). Sunday, most remaining items are discounted at 50% and more.
Downsizing Marketplace’s unique approach is to remove those high-end items that have not sold by the close of business Saturday and market them on eBay instead. This ensures the best return for those items.
In order to show you what we mean by “maximum results”, let’s look at a real-life example of a recent transaction. In this instance we saw a vintage Heuer dashboard chronometer (for car racing) at a local Estate Sale. It was priced at $800.00 (a reasonable market price for such an item). We bought it for $400.00 on the last day of the sale and placed it for auction on eBay. The chronometer sold for $1,425.00 at the conclusion of the seven day auction (as we know when two people are interested in the same item, the price goes up).
